Margarethe "Margie" Higgins, 86, of Decatur passed away August 13, 2015. She was born December 8, 1928 in Donauwoerth, Germany to Hans Jakob Bechtel and Maria Vogg Bechtel.
Mrs. Higgins was a Bindary Supervisor at Tennesse Valley Press (TVP) where she was employed for over 40 years. She loved cooking, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Rickie Higgins (Rebekah) ; two grandchildren, Bailey Higgins and Sam Higgins ; step-grandson, Chris Sparkman all of Decatur and sister, Josefine "Pepi" Bechtel Leiss of Germany.
Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Hans, Karl, Fritz and Heinrich Bechtel and three sisters, Juliana Schmid, Amanda Dittmann and Maria Wohr.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday August 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
