Clarence Darvil "CD" Anderson, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Abilene. Visitation will from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, February 14th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. His graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at the Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton.

CD was born in Haskell on September 6, 1926 the son of Emory Anderson and Susie Belle Townsend Anderson. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and married Lorelle Millican on January 19, 1946. He was an insurance agent and co-owner of Abilene Candy Company in Abilene for many years. He also served as the mayor of Buffalo Gap in the 1980's.

Always active in his community and in church, CD was a member of the University Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and a Deacon. He was also active as a volunteer with the Abilene Baptist Association and had been recognized as volunteer of the year after 22 years of service to that organization. CD was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Abilene. He had been a member of the Knights of the Round Table Coffee Bunch for over 50 years.

Everyone who knew CD loved him. He always had a contagious smile that could brighten even the worst of days. One of his greatest joys was visiting and being a part of the Throckmorton community and planning and hosting the Easter and Cousin reunions at "The Slope."

Survivors include his wife of 67 years whom he adored, Lorelle of Abilene; two children, Mike Anderson and wife Martine, and Michele Schmidt all of Abilene; and many special nieces and nephews.

His parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Throckmorton Volunteer Fire Department, 116 E Chestnut ST, Throckmorton, TX 76483.
