Theodore Sigmund Alexander, 84, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Christ Church with the Reverend Harriette Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church, 582 Walnut Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.
Mr. Alexander served our country in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He was a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Mr. Alexander was President of Macon Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors. He was also a member of Macon Civitan Club, Council for Advancement & Support of Education, and National Association of Hospital Development. Mr. Alexander was a Verger and Stewardship Chair at Christ Church. He was the Maryland State Director of the March of Dimes. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Mr. Alexander was a well-read historian. Because of his career as Executive Fundraiser, he was fortunate to live throughout the United States. He had an exuberant spirit, joy and love that he brought to others with his infectious personality.
Mr. Alexander was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Ruth Austin Alexander and wife of 15 years, Mary King Martin Alexander. He was also predeceased by his parents, Gerard and Veronica Alexander; and brother and sister, Gerard Alexander and Mania Hufnagel.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Wood-Alexander of Macon; daughter, Stacy Alexander Grissim (Steve) of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Mark Christopher Alexander (Tara) of Austin, Texas; son-by-marriage, Lou Wood (Ponda) of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren, Jane Alexander Edwards of Nashville, Marley Alexander of Austin, Spencer Alexander of Austin; grandchildren-by-marriage, Andrew Grissim of Nashville, Daniel Grissim of Nashville, Melissa Tirico (Greg) of Buford, Georgia, and Jim Wood (Kim) of Concord, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Ella and Lily Wood, Sophia and Brayden Tirico, and brother, Joseph Conrad Alexander of Boston, Massachusetts.
