Our dear mother, grandmother (Hunny), sister and friend passed peacefully with the sunset on March 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, after a year long battle with cancer.

Mom was born September 8, 1940 to George and Geneva Wathen. One of 5 children, she loved her parents dearly and cared for both of them until their deaths.

Mom was proud to be a registered nurse and spent the last 30 years of her career at the University of Utah hospital where she worked in many leadership positions including: nurse manager of the operating room, nurse manager of the rehabilitation unit and finally the last 10 years of her career were spent as the nurse manager of the Clinical Research Center. She retired in 2002.

Mom was a member of the 328th General Hospital Unit of the Utah Army Reserve and served proudly until the time of her honorable discharge.

Carol was an active member of the LDS church where she served in many capacities. She was a gifted and talented teacher. She loved Halloween, the color purple, working in her gardens, driving her red corvette and above all else her family.

The family would like to thank Cheri, Angie and Leslie from Vistacare Hospice. You helped us make our dream of keeping mom at home possible.

She is survived by her children: Julia (Richard) Beynon, Brad (Amy) Bowcutt, Jason Bowcutt and Mindy Bowcutt (fiance Dave Stoker), seven grandchildren whom she adored, her two brothers Dennis (Betty) Wathen and Michael (Kathy) Wathen and many dear friends especially Ken Sather who remained by her side and made sure she always had fresh flowers in her room.

Funeral Services will be held on Wed., April 4, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 South 2565 East Holladay. Friends may call Tues., 6-8 PM at Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and also 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment in Holladay Memorial Park
