Bernice Diffenderfer passed away at the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Richmond, Indiana on March 4, 1996. She was born on March 8, 1907 in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of Isaac and Minnie Morris Baynes.
She graduated from Salem High School and Madam Blaker's Teachers College and taught in the Indianapolis Free Kindergartens.
She came to Cambridge City in 1931 where she taught first grade until she retired in 1971. She was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church in Cambridge City, a member of the Friday Study Club, She had served on the library board and had done volunteer service for Reid Hospital, The Girl Scouts and Meals On Wheels.
Her husband, Eugene S. Diffenderfer died on March 16, 1970.
Services were held at Waskom-Howard-Fisher Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Cambridge City, Indiana.
