It was in August of 1999 that my eleven year old daughter told me there was a sign in front of a house a few blocks away that said "Free Kittens". I knew how much she wanted one, so I called to come see them. On the way, I told my daughter that if there was a black and white one, that would be it. I am a sucker for black and white animals, especially cats. The man of the house directed us to a wooden deck on which there were four adorable kittens huddled together. As the screen door was opening, the kittens scattered in four different directions. Three of them were able to find empty boxes to hide in. The fourth one, a black and white one, had nowhere to hide so, she crouched down to try to make herself invisible. Of course, my heart melted. My daughter walked over to her and picked her up. She was absolutely adorable! We took her home and I put a litter box under the sink in the upstairs bathroom. I put her in the litter box so she would get used to it. I looked away for a minute and when I looked back, she was not in the box. We looked around on the floor, but did not see her. Then we opened the bottom drawer and there she was. She had found a place to hide after all. Does it get any cuter than that? I don't think so!

Our dear, sweet Oreo has been in our hearts and homes ever since. She will be missed!
