LT Lou Burns was a decorated Navy Vietnam helicopter pilot attached to Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3 "Seawolves" attached to Det 4 from 1969-1970 where he was awarded 5 Individual Action Air Medals, 12 Strike/Flight Air Medals, and 2 Navy Commendation Medal w/Combat V, among other awards.

We had information that Lou was killed approximately 8 months after returning from Vietnam in a helicopter oil rig crash, but have been unable to find any record of the incident.
He had orders to NAS PT. MUGU, CA at the time.
