VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II & THE KOREAN CONFLICT, HAVING SERVED 10 YEARS IN THE US AIR FORCE.

Elmus Lee Arledge Is the son of William Andrew Arledge and Ardell (Sitz)Arledge, and he was the brother of Maurine (Arledge) Sosebee, and Jeanette (Arledge) Perry.

Elmus Lee Arledge was the husband of Margret (Underwood) Arledge.

Elmus died in his sleep, on his parents Couch. His parents lived across the street (North 4th St) from my Uncle Leo Marcus Evans and my family lived nearby. My father was working as a retail salesman for Tro-Fe Dairy and our neighbor hood was on his route at that particular time. My Father told me it was a very cold November morning, when he delivered the ordered milk to William and Ardell (Sitz) Arledge's home. They told him to come on inside and put the milk in the refrigerator and get warmed up a little. When he stepped inside, they told him their son was asleep on the couch, so they were trying to be a little quite, as to not wake him up. My Dad said that he took the milk on back and put it in the refrigerator and as he was leaving, he saw Elmus lying on the couch. My Father told me that he had just gotten into his milk truck, and was pulling away, when he heard William and Ardell calling out for help. He looked in his side mirror and saw them running out of their home. They had just discovered that Elmus had passed away in his sleep. Elmus, his wife Margaret, and William Andrew Arledge and Ardell (Sitz) Arledge and their two daughters, Maurine and Jeanette, were all members of our church family at Northside Baptist Church. Northside Baptist Church was only a few doors down from their home.
