Homer "Gordy" Barber, 93 of the Rock Bluff Community in Liberty County, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Blountstown, FL. He was a native and lifelong resident of Liberty County. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army.
After the war he went to work with the State of Florida Park Service and after 28 years he retired as the Torreya State Park supervisor. He loved Liberty County, he like to hunt, but he loved to fish. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Dexter Barber and his wife Gabra, Bobby Barber, Gene(Glen) Barber, Jackie Barber and Dianne Barber. He is also survived by one Brother, Johnnie Barber and one sister, Bernie Morrow, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 2000 by his wife Gloria.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Bevis Funeral Home in Bristol, Florida. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 12:30 PM, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in Bristol, Florida with burial following at Rock Bluff Cemetery.
