Daughter of Edward and MaryAnn Crebo Hancock. Wife of James M.Davis. Married at Sutro; marriage recorded August 19, 1885 in Book A Page 184, Lyon County. One daughter, Susan "Susie" Jeanette Davis, single all her life.

MRS. MINNIE DAVIS PASSES IN CARSON
Carson, June 7 --
"Mrs. Minnie Davis, who had been ill for the last several months, died early Saturday at the Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
Mrs. Davis was born in Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ann Hancock. As a small child, with her parents, she moved to Sutro, Nevada, and was married there to the late James Marshall Davis, who died in 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Davis moved from Sutro to Virginia City in 1890. In 1915, Mrs. Davis and her daughter, Susan, moved to Carson.
For many years they conducted the J. M. Davis book and stationary store in Virginia City, and she was the owner of the Evening Chronicle and was also connected with the telephone company for a number of years. She was well known throughout Nevada. She was a member of the Argents chapter No.7 and Order of the Eastern Star of Virginia City for more than 50 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Miss Susie Jeanette Davis, of Carson; a sister, Mrs. L.M [Lillie] Fowler of Los Angeles, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be announced by the Capital City mortuary and burial will be in the family plot in the Virginia City cemetery."
