Carl Frederick Amundson, 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.

Carl was born in Spring Grove, Minnesota on August 22, 1920 to Carl F. and Agnes (Jensen) Amundson. He grew up in Spring Grove and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1938. In 1942 he married Mildred “Millie” Stopfer after their marriage they lived in Philadelphia then moved to Texas in 1948 and settling in Bristol in 1969. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for seven years during WWII in the Pacific Theater most notably serving on the USS Hornett as first class boatswain’s mate.

He worked for Sheffer Studio making custom furniture and for McAx Sign Company as a shop foreman. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working on his ranch in Bristol.

He is survived by one daughter, Janet and her husband, Jeremy Van Hoose of Bristol and two grandchildren: Sierra and C.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Millie on March 25, 1999, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will take place on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Todd Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in Bristol Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
