Mrs. Vernie W. Collins, 75, widow of J.C. Collins died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in Southeastern General Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Biggs Funeral Chapel with Dr. Russell T. Cherry officiating. Burial follows in New Hollywood Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Willis Douglas Collins of Greensboro, Samuel Collins of Lumberton and James Hilburn Collins of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Barton of Lake Worth, Fla. and Mrs. Betty Finley of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Clarence Willis of Laurinburg and Wilson Willis of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Annie Johnston of Cary; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Collins of 401 W. 36th St., Lumberton, and will be at Biggs Funeral Home tonight (Tuesday) from 7:30 to 9.

Other: Vernie Mae Willis was the wife of James Clarence Collins. Her parents were Samuel Oliver (S.O.) Willis and Laura Jane Rozier. Here siblings were: William Arthur Willis, Clarence Jennings Willis, Edison Judson Willis, Walter Randolph Willis, Addie Elizabeth Willis (Britt) (Johnston), Hezzie Beulah Willis (Kelley). Alma Murphy Willis (Musselwhite) and Rozier Wilson Willis.
