Obituary Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for Elmo John Albarado, Jr., 59, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lafayette, LA.
Reverend John de Leeuw will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Father deLeeuw was also the residing Priest that married them 34 years ago. Gift bearers will be Briley Albarado, Anastasia Albarado, Sandy Peltier and Katie Cavitt.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 34 years and fishing partner, Debra Albarado; one daughter, Lyndsay Helen Albarado of Lafayette; three sons, Michael John and his wife Tesia of Houston, Tx., Christopher John and his wife, Shellie of Leonville and Samuel John Albarado of Lafayette; two special people, Katie Cavitt and Matthew Nguyen; four grandchildren, Brayden Eddie, Briley Elizabeth, Anastasia Joclynn and Aleksandra Julianna Albarado; his mother, Etta Mouille; one sister, Connie Vincent and her husband Billy; three brothers, Ralph and his wife Jean, Barry and his wife Julie and Mark Albarado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmo John Albarado, Sr.; one brother, Kenneth James Albarado; and two sister-in-laws, Linda and Sarah Albarado.
A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Mr. Albarado was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all who knew him. He worked for ODECO / Murphy Oil for 27 years in the Gulf of Mexico and was currently working as an oilfield consultant for Delta Petroleum out of Colorado. Mr. Albarado was very committed to his work, and taught his children the same values. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and duck hunting and was also quite the history buff. Mr Albarado was an excellent cook and loved to BBQ. He was a true fan of the New Orleans Saints and a forever member of the "Who Dat" Nation. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
Pallbearers will be his three sons, Michael, Chris and Sam Albarado and his three brothers, Ralph, Barry and Mark Albarado. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Brayden Albarado; his brother-in-laws, Gerald and Norman Saltzman and Matt Nguyen.
Martin & Castille - Downtown, 330 St. Landry Street, Lafayette, Louisiana was in charge of services.
