| Birth: | Mar. 26, 1905 | | Death: | Mar. 14, 2000 |  Elizabeth Bailey Amoss, 94, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Hanover Hospital in Hanover, Pa. Born March 26, 1905, in Richlands, Va., she was the daughter of the late George William and Ida Bailey Hurt. She was the wife of William Irving Amoss, who died in 1992. She was a member of Tom's Creek United Methodist Church, Emmittsburg, the Emmittsburg Senior Citizens and the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Surviving are sons George W. Amoss of Westminster and Melvin I. Amoss and Calvin L. Amoss, both of Taneytown; sisters Katherine Arrington of Mount Airy and Mary Slagle of Lisbon; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Virginia Slagle; and brothers James and George Hurt. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with her pastor, the Rev. Donnie Jane Cardwell officiating. Soloist George Bruchey sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Bearers were Steven, Daniel, Dwight, Dwayne, Wayne and Zachary Amoss and J. T. Chiaruttini. Interment will be in Keysville Union Cemetery, Keymar. Memorial contributions may be made to the General Fund of Tom's Creek United Methodist Church, 16252 Tom's Creek Church Road, Emmittsburg, MD.
