SAN DIEGO - The body of a man who may have possibly died from a snake bite or a medical condition was found in Mission Trails Regional Park Wednesday moring.

The body was discovered by a hiker walking along Father Junipero Serra Trail just after 8 a.m., police Lt. Dawn Summers said.

It was about nine to ten feet down a hill approximately a half mile north of the visitor's center, Summers said.

The man was slumped over and he had puncture marks on one of his legs, Summers said. Medical Examiner's officials said it appears he had been there for as long as two days.

He was clad in a T-shirt, jogging shorts and running shoes and was not carrying any identification. It appears he was between 30 to 35 years olds.

An autopsy will determine his cause of death.

San Diego's East County - Following an examination, the San Diego Medical Examiner has concluded that Jeffery Martin Andrews, 33, died of sudden cardiac arrest associated with coronary artery atherosclerosis.

Andrews collapsed while hiking in Mission Trails Regional Park on September 7. He was found by a hiker, who asked a jogger to call 911. Santee Fire Department responded to the call and confirmed death without medical intervention.

Earlier media reports had included speculation that Andrews may have succumbed to a rattlesnake bite, however the evidence conclusively indicates that death was from natural causes.
