Arthur Ray "Andy" Anderson, resident of Midland and former resident of Kermit, passed away October 7, 2010, at the age of 89 in the Memorial Care Center in Seminole, Texas.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, Texas, officiated by Pastor Steve Long. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Andy was born to Arthur "Aus" and Addie Anderson in Wichita Falls, Texas and attended school in Clara, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, working in the North American aircraft factory in California prior to enlistment. After the war, he spent 39 years in the employment of Gulf Oil Corporation and Chevron fulfilling his uncle's prophesy, "Sonny boy, if you wear out a pair of shoes in the oil patch, you will never leave".

In 1952, he married Johnnie Elma Liles Anderson and with her three children had an instant family. In 1953 a daughter was added to the family. Soon after marriage, Andy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Grace Temple Baptist Church of Kermit, Texas. He was committed and faithful; serving his God, church and family. When given the responsibility of teaching young boys, he was convicted to give up smoking to be the example they needed.

Left to cherish the memory of our beloved daddy and granddad are his wife; daughter, Deanna Anderson McDonald and husband Pat; her sons, Chance and Andrew; and stepdaughter, Amber. Also surviving him are his stepdaughter, Anita Fern Hudgpeth and husband J.D.; and their son, Jay and his family and the family of their son, Eddy Ray; and his stepson son, Albert R. Anderson Jr. and wife Gloria and their children Johnny, Billy and Gloria Ann and their families. He also leaves behind his sister, Mabel Dean Walkup; and brother, Homer Rex Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Faye Stradley; stepson, Billy Don Anderson; and his first buddy and grandson, Eddy Ray Hudgpeth.

The family requests memorials be made to Seminole Memorial Hospice, 209 NW Eighth St., Seminole, Texas 79360 or Northside Baptist Church, 439 N. Mulberry, Kermit, Texas, 79745.
