Leona M. Aaker, 76, of Whidbey Island, died Dec. 25, 2004, at Careage of Whidbey in Coupeville. She was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Humphrey, Neb. Leona's family moved to Seattle in 1942 where she grew up. She attended Immaculate Conception High School in Seattle. After high school, she met and married Howard Aaker who was a commercial fisher. She and Howard had two children, Kathy and Cliff Aaker. Howard and Kathy are deceased. Her remaining son, Cliff Aaker and his wife Michelle, reside on Whidbey Island.
All of her family and friends will miss Leona. If one knew Leona as her family did, they would concur that she was a very generous, kind, loving person. Her greatest love in life was her family, and driving to Reno, Nev., for vacation.
Leona attended Mikut Real Estate School in Seattle, obtaining her real estate license in 1965, and then in 1969, she moved to Whidbey Island where she partnered with Tom Page at Loganberry Hill Realty in Greenbank. Shortly after she had received her broker license, she bought out the business from Tom Page and continued with the name of Loganberry Hill Realty until November 2001.
Leona remained the owner of Loganberry Hill Realty up until she retired in 2001 when she sold the business to David Buest of Greenbank.
Her son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Michelle Aaker of Greenbank, survive her. She is also survived by her only living sister, Marian and brother-in-law Chuck Herring of Greenbank; two nephews and nieces, Chuck Herring, Jr., and Bill Herring and their wives, Barbara and Debbie Herring; one great-niece and two great-nephews, Brianna Herring, Taylor Herring and Matthew Herring; one nephew and two nieces of Seattle, Steve, Cindy and Susie Eckholt; one nephew and niece, Tom and Chris Harmon, and a great-nephew and great-niece, Mark Harmon and Heidi Koehler, all four of Aptos, Calif.
In last commemoration to Leona and her family, we will always honor and keep alive your memories of you that have been a lifetime. May God be with you.
