Joan Carr Alston, age 71, of Broken Bow, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. Joan was born July 10, 1942 in Bakersfield, California, the daughter of James Lee and Darlene Leeds Haworth. Joan had lived in Broken Bow since1962 moving here from Eufaula, Oklahoma. Joan loved sewing, crafting, gardening, going fishing and spending time with family and friends. Joan never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John Brandon Axton and a sister Pat Austin.Joan leaves to cherish her memory; daughters Darla Childress and husband Mike of Clarksville, Texas; Becky Spurlock and husband John of Katy, Texas; Tina Axton of Broken Bow,Oklahoma; Julie Daniel and husband Michael of Katy, Texas; Joni Pinnell and husband Danny of Conroe, Texas; sons Bill Carr and wife Julie of the Woodlands, Texas; Toots Carr of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; Brothers James Haworth and wife Debby of Cyril, Oklahoma; Neal Edwards of Spencer, Oklahoma; sisters Beverly Harbaugh of Lubbock, Texas, Gail Farley and Husband Bobby of Apache, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Battiest Cemetery in Battiest, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Bobby Farley officiating.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the funeral home.Services are under the direction of Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.Online condolences may be sent to www.bunchsingleton.com
