Lewis Gene Adkins Sr. was born July 16, 1942 in Jackson County and departed this life Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 71 years of age. He was the son of the late Noah & Bonnie Charlote Louise (Parrett) Adkins.

Gene is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Parker) Adkins; by a son, Lewis Gene Adkins Jr., and by two step sons, Jackie Hundley and Richard Hundley all of Gray Hawk and a host of nieces & nephews
Gene was blessed with three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by six brothers; Donald, Ronald, Clyde, Harold, Lester & Raymond Adkins.

Gene was a member of the Gray Hawk Reformed Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.



Funeral service was held 2:00PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Carroll de Forest officiating. Burial followed in the Adkins Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jackie & Richard Hundley, Chris Adkins, Eddie & Steven Nunn & Eugene Colon. Honorary pallbearers were Joe & Jesse James Adkins, Bobby Ault, Delbert Gibson, Leslie Hundley & Jack Neeley. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
