OBITUARY:
James “Wood” Acton, 84, of 10 Austin Ave, died Wednesday night at Boone County Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Boone County March 3, 1890, the son of Pleasant and Nancy Sapp Acton. He was married to the former Josephine Acton in 1955.
Survivors include his widow, eight sons, Aubrey Acton Las Vegas, Nev., Otto Acton Route 4, Buford Acton Columbia, Ronnie Acton 306 Wilkes Blvd., Jerry Acton 10 Austin Ave., Wilfred Acton Crossroads Trailer court, Jimmy Acton Route 9, Raymond Acton 113 Fourth Ave., one step son Joe Berry Jr 10 Austin Ave., six daughters, Mrs. John Foresee Second Ave., Mrs. Orville Perkins Route 4, Mrs. Richard Hatton 104 Alexander Ave., Mrs. Pete Aldez North Ridge Trailer Court, Mrs. Sam Strawn Rainbow Trailer Court, Miss Cathy Acton 10 Austin Ave., one brother Riggs Acton Route 4; 75 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home by Elder Atley Sapp of Ashland. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery.
