Daisy Octavia Buchanan was born March 16, 1878 in Mississippi. Daisy is the youngest daughter of James Elenor Buchanan b. 1832 d. 1913 and Mary Melissa Freeland b. 1839 d. 1900. She married William "Billy" Merrell about 1894. The names of Daisy and William (Billy) A. Merrell children from oldest to youngest are: Josephine Beatrice Coffey b. 1896, James Eugene b. 1898 d.1910, Ocie W.b. 1905, Plummer b. 1908, Nellie Burns b.1915.

Daisy moved to the Pecos Valley in 1905 locating in Hagerman, NM and later moving to Dexter, New Mexico. Daisy moved to Roswell, NM in 1929 and divorced the father of her children William "Billy" Merrell. Daisy married Frank Sears in 1930 at 52 years old until her death on November 10,1947.

Daisy died suddenly at 3:30PM on November 10, 1947. Her obituary was published in the Roswell Daily Record on November 12, 1947. Daisy was survived by her oldest daughter Josephine Beatrice Thorn and her youngest daughter Nellie Dalgarn and eight grandchildren: Helen Wall, Evelyn Berry, Gladys Henderson, Maudie Gillespie, and Irma Dalgarn.

Her final resting place is South Park Cemetery.
