"FOUND ON STREET WITH FRACTURED SKULL
(Ft. Bragg Advocate)
Horace E. Babbitt, an old timer on this coast, died here Monday. He was found lying in the street in the southeast quarters of town early Sunday by Nightwatchman Stokes, who thought he was intoxicated and locked him up. Later in the day he became unconscious and was taken to the hospital, where it was discovered that his skull was fractured.
The coroners jury rendered a verdict to the effect that death was caused by a fractured skull, due to a blow or fall.
Deceased was 68 years old, a native of Kansas and had resided here for over 25 years."
