During the War, Alexander went out into the army with the first company from Jackson County. He was sent to training camp at Big Shanty, north from Atlanta. The sanitary conditions of the camp were bad, typhoid was raging, and Alexander was seized with typhoid and died, and his father took him home and buried him in the family grave yard. Alexander was a most noble fellow, and his death was a grievous blow to his parents and family.Died of Typhoid. Buried at home. ~Adair History and Genealogy Chapter 39, Page 249.
