Walter married Marie (nee Dickson or Dixon?) on July 7, 1933 in Philadelphia.
Walter worked for the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and also lent his expertise as an electronic engineer on the Manhattan Project. He was also an avid photographer, and took many slide and film photos over the course of his lifetime.
He and Marie (d. 2002) had three children: John Edward (d. 1996), Marie (d. 1997), and Walter Louis Jr. (d. 1995)
