John Anderson V was born on September 1, 1823 & christened on September 10, 1823 in Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. His parents were John Anderson IV and Jean Ronald. He was the oldest son and inherited the lease to his father's lands & farm in Smithstone (near Cumbernauld). John was never married and had no children. He died on November 21, 1896 in Glenbrook, Dullatur, Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. His nephew, Thomas Chalmers, was the informant of his death. John's burial took place at the Cumbernauld Parish Churchyard. There is a February 5, 1897 Estate Inventory for him but no Will.
