Mr. Chase was the founder of Shatterproof Glass Inc.. He was the invetor of the wired glass for buildings, and Shatter Proof glass for cars. My Mother Marlene worked for his company, and when the company was on strike, she was the only one he talked too. His close personal friend was Henry Ford, and he was the one who introduced Shatter Proof glass to Ford Automobiles; by showing Mr. Ford how a family perished in a photo of a Model "T" car crash. The family had died when they went through the windshield, and Mr. Ford saw this photo which made him ill, and he bought Shatter Proof Glass from Mr. Chase. As a little boy, I met Mr. Chase, and he showed me the photo that was shown to Mr. Ford. It made me ill also, but that photo made Mr. Chase millions, and less people died from going through the windshield. The company collapsed around the time Mr. Chase died.
Mr. Chase died in 1982, but I have not a clue where he is buried. His son William Chase II, went to Grand Rapids and started a hardware store. His daughter is, Mrs. P.Hartman, and is involved with the American Cancer Society.
