Founder of Mercury Records - Irving Green was born in Brooklyn, New York.
His parents were poor, but his aims were high. Going to Chicago, he founded Mercury Records with little in his pocket. Working hard to bring music to everyone and musicians to his label. Breaking the race barrier, Green hired Quincy Jones as his music director. Rip, as he was know to all, worked daily at his company, selling it in 1970. He then went to Iran and started a housing boom building homes in a once barren area. Returning to the states, he moved to Palm Springs and built homes there. Irv was working till just two days before his death.
