Nellie Louise (May) Adams, 81 years, a lifelong resident of Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 22, 2007, while surrounded and comforted by her loving family in the home of her daughter in Connellsville where she had been residing.

She was born October 14, 1926, in Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, daughter of John May and Minnie Cavalcante May.

Nellie graduated from the now former Dunbar Township High School with the Class of 1945.

Nellie was very civic minded during her life and had served the Vanderbilt community as the Central Democratic Committee Woman for Vanderbilt Borough and as Vanderbilt Borough Auditor for many years.

Nellie was also a member of the DL & V Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Connellsville Slovak Club.

Nellie had been a member of the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Dawson, Pennsylvania, and was currently a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville and was also a member of the Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society.

For years, Nellie worked beside her father in the family business, May's Tavern, in Vanderbilt and made many friends over the years.

One of her greatest joys in life was loving and caring for her wonderful family.

Nellie was predeceased by her parents, by her husband, Michael F. Adams, and by a brother, Charles A. May.

Nellie will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered, by all her family and friends that have come to know and love her, especially by her loving daughter, Michelle McCune, of Connellsville, Pa., and her granddaughter, Valarie McCune of Connellsville, who was the greatest joy in Nellie's life; her sister-in-law, Jean E. May of Connellsville; her niece and nephews: Charlene Arnolt of Indianapolis, Indiana, John May of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Jeff DiMaio and his wife, Paty, of Uniontown, Pa.

Family and Friends will be received today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pennsylvania. THERE WILL BE NO VIEWING TUESDAY, CHRISTMAS DAY.

Visitation continues in the Funeral Home on Wednesday from Noon to 3 and 5 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2007, at 9:30 a.m.

A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with Rev. Father Terry A. Hercik as Celebrant.

The Committal Service and interment will follow in Saint Rita's Cemetery.

A Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.
