Born near Lund, Sweden, the eldest of four children of Andrew and Carrie Lundquist Anderson, he was educated in Sweden and came to America age 20 years. He arrived in New York on the ship "North America" on July 4, 1864.
He came first to Champaign County and in 1868 began working by the month for Michael Sullivant in Ford County. He worked until 1876 and during the last six years held the position of foreman. The crews laid out section lines and highways in what became Sullivant Township of Ford County.
On Dec. 25, 1874 he married Lottie Swanson of Fairbury, IL. They had seven childen. Danny S. died Aug. 28, 1886.
The couple helped found the Swedish Lutheran church in Sibley. Swen served as deacon and secretary of the congregation. He was a member of the Sibley Masonic Lodge No. 761 A.F. & A.M, holding office of Master and also secretary.
Swen rented land from Sullivant in 1876 and farmed for six years. Then he moved to Sibley and began operating a lumber yard and coal office. He was also an agent for Equitable Trust Company of New London, CN and for several other insurance companies.
He held the office of Justice of the Peace in Sibley for 16 years and was collector of taxes, Township Clerk and director of Public Schools of Sibley for nine years. He served also as a notary public.
