| Birth: | Jan. 24, 1926 Charlottesville Albemarle County Virginia, USA | | Death: | Dec. 3, 2012 Charlottesville Albemarle County Virginia, USA |  Dorothy Mae Harris Dorothy Mae Harris, 86, of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2012, at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on January 24, 1926, the daughter of the late James R. and Isabell H. Belt. After 46 years of dedicated service, she retired from Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at the University of Virginia. "Buzz", as she was affectionately known to the brothers of Phi Kappa Psi was loved and cherished by them all. She was a member of Union Run Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed shopping, traveling and family gatherings. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Arthur E. Harris and Melvin F. Harris; five daughters, Edna M. Harris, Audrey M. Harris, Tajuanna L. Harris, and Tonya E. Armstrong and her husband, Greg, all of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Mercele A. Collins and her husband, Henry, of Hyattsville Maryland; one brother, Robert Thurston of Barboursville, Virginia; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; a devoted cousin, June H. Banks; one niece, one nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Union Run Baptist Church in Shadwell, Virginia, with the Reverend Doyle Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Her remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Charlottesville Health and Rehab for their special care. J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
