She was born in Mystic on October 18, 1932, the daughter of William and Lou(Robinson)Seals. She married Edward Bills on January 2, 1954 in Des Monines, Iowa. She worked at Meyer Hall in Des Moines for several years. The family moved to Mystic, Iowa. They owned and operated Nips Friendly Tavern for 17 years and later built and operated Mystic Auction for 14 years. Shirley was an active member of the Mystic American Legion and Mystic Booster Club. Her faavorite pastime was playing Lottery and Bingo, her highlights was spending time with family.
She is survived by four sons, Samuel(Connie)Bills, Daniel(Becky)Bills and Walter Bills all of Mystic, and Mark Bills of Centerville; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Ora(Louise)Seals, and Cela Seals of Newton, IA; two sisters, Iris(Jack)Smith of Newton, Iowa and Faith(Delbert)Engle of Centerville, Iowa; three half brothers, Bill, Jimmy and Dwight Seals of Kirksville, Missouri; and one stepsister Carol Wages of Centerville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; William Seals and Lou O'Brien; and her stepfather, Bill O'Brien.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Junior Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery north of Mystic. The funeral home will be open all day Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th, St, Centerville, IA 52544.
