Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Harper) Tetrick. Her mother died in Ohio in 1847, and the father brought the family to Bartholomew Co. about 1864. Joseph Tetrick was enumerated on Bartholomew Co. censuses, 1870 and 1880. The newspaper reported March 14, 1882 that, "Father Tetrick, living at the toll gate south of town, is still very low, and but little hopes are entertained of his recovery." (The toll gate was just south of Haw Creek, about where State Street and McKinley Avenue intersect, on the road to Madison.) He has no marked grave.
