Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran Church at Chisago City last Friday afternoon for Alfred Bengston, who passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Monday, July 21.

Mr. Bengston was born in the parish of Hoby, Blekinge, Sweden on Feb 2, 1861 and was at his death 80 years, 5 mo, and 19 days of age. He came to America and to this community in 1876. He joined the Zion Lutheran Church shortly afterward and had been a member there for the last 64 years.

Officiating at the service Friday was Pastor C. E. Slatt and Mrs. Anna Peterson sang two songs. Burial was made at West Green Lake Cemetery and pallbearers were Swen Carlson, August Hawkinson, William Peterson, Harold Johnson, Henry Johnson, and W. Almberg.

Those left to mourn his departure are four daughters, Olga, Edith, Mrs. Arthur Holmgren, and Mrs. Everet Holmgren and three grandchildren all of Chisago City, a sister, Mrs. Andrew Allison of Spring Lake, and many other relatives and friends.
