Leaving the arms of her earthly family on 19 December 2015, to be with her Savior and family. Born 11 November 1932 in Gilmer, Upshur, Texas. She was the fifth child of James Roosevelt Starks and Ida Marie Bowers.

Vada moved to Provo, Utah from Vallejo, California in September 2014, to be closer to her daughter, Debbie. For the past 15 months they have enjoyed spending time together. Vada was introduced to numerous activities that she had never done before and enjoyed the challenge.

A faithful member of the L.D.S. Church, she has served as a kind and loving Visiting Teacher, a Oakland Temple worker, and enjoyed teaching the youth ballroom dancing.

Those who know Vada have described her as, a true elite lady, faithful, loving, refined, compassionate, graceful, respectful, selfless and peaceful.

Throughout mom’s life, she has had a tremendous love of music and dancing. In 1790 she had an ancestor that would dance the weekend through, with the results being, wearing out a pair of his dancing shoes. This he did numerous weekends. Mom would have loved doing that. As a young woman, she became a Certified Dance Instructor for Author Murray’s Dance Studio.

A devoted mother, Vada is survived by her daughter, Debbie Roberts, her two sons, Paul (Vivian) and Mike Airoldi.

As Grandma Posie, she has loved her grandchildren, Vada (Jose Lambiet), Becky (Kris Gonzales), and David Roberts (Felicia), very much. She has been thrilled to have 10 great grandchildren, Decan, Alexa, DeVree, Jaiden, Kalai, Dameyin, Eliza, Kamden, Greyson and Loic.

Vada is also survived by her sister, Mavis Lisonbee and brother, Darwin Starks, numerous nieces and nephews and an abundant amount of great nieces and nephews.

Vada was preceded in death by her loving parents, James R. Starks and Ida M. Bowers; her husband, Melvin Airoldi; her siblings, Eva (Homer) Seamons, Vernice (Joe) Thomas, Delton (Jeanette) Starks, Arlene (Steve) Cline, brother in law Bernie Lisonbee, her nephews Joseph and Ronald Thomas, Dewayne Hamberlin and her niece, Deanne Starks Adams.

The family would like to thank Our House of Provo residents and staff and Utah Home Health & Hospice for the love and care they gave to Vada. A very special Thank You to Kaaren Stasko for your weekly, uplifting and loving cards, to others who sent cards to mom, she cherished every one.

I, Debbie, would like to give a heartfelt “Thank You” to Emma, Emily, Dena and Karen, “I couldn’t have done it without you”!

To all those left behind, Mom loves you very much. You have always been very special to her.

She said “I’ll see you in Heaven”.
