He was born in Hill Top, W.Va. and was a resident of Barberton for 51 years. Employed by the New River Coal Company for 21 years, he became part owner of Olson Sheet Metal in 1962, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Norton Baptist Church, an avid fisherman and hunter; especially deer hunting and enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. Golden took up golfing at age 91 and had his first "hole-in-one" at Copley Greens, at age 100.
Preceded in death by his son, Robert Earl and his wife of 66 years, Catherine E.; survived by son, John (Marsha) of Norton; daughters, Jean VanHook of Ft. Myers, Florida, Eureka (Ronald) Orr and Janice (Jerry) Wilkinson all of Simpsonville, S. Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 48 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. Burial at Hill Top Cemetery in Hill Top, W.Va. Calling hours TONIGHT from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to, Mission USA, Fred Muffet, 544 Taft Ave., Barberton 44203, please include, "Haiti" on your check.
