Samuel was born in Morristown, N.J. son of Josiah (1718 N.J./Jan 24, 1774 N.J. s of William Broadwell & Jane Darling) & Sarah Briant b 1725 Morristown, N.J. d Feb 19, 1774 Morristown(dau of David & Sarah).
Samuel served Morris County miltia as Teamster on Baggone Wagon under Gen. William Wings Brigade Oct 1777; as Private in Capt. Carter's Company Eastern Battalon of Morris Militia May 3, 1784.
He married his lst wife Mary Lindsley Sept 3, 1775 in N.J.
she was born Jan 25, 1756 dau of Junia 1725/1770 & Hannah Nutman 1728/1808.
Samuel & Mary had atleast 1 child, Josiah who died in N.J., with his family he left New Jersey, traveling through Indian infested territory with meager belongings, Samuel arrived in Kentucky, Mary apparently dying on the way, as perhaps a child or two, we do know that he had: Wesley b 1770 N.J. d 1833 Ky. m: (l) Elizabeth Timberlake, m: (2) Mary Light; William b 1780-1790 m: Elizabeth Payne; and Asbury b 1791 d 1843 Ky. m: Mary Esther McMillin.
Samuel married Catharine Cowan in Harrison Co. Ky. Sept 23, 1797 and had 3 daughters, Mary b 1799 m: David Veach, Lydia b 1800 David Dills, & Priscilla b 1806 m: Thomas J. Larimore.
(5th great grandfather to my husband). NOTE: we don't know who's grave this is, there are only a few in this cemetery that have not been destroyed.

Plot: NOTE: THIS CEMETERY IS ON THE RUDDLES MILLS ROAD IN HARRISON COUNTY ON THE RIGHT SIDE JUST PAST THE FORK IN THE ROAD..IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY WHICH HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO BE ALMOST DESTROYED BY CATTLE, THE STONES ARE BROKEN AND MANY TROMPED INTO THE GROUND UNSEEN. THE PICTURES OF THE TOMBSTONES THAT WE TOOK ARE NOT THE ACTUAL STONES FOR THE DECEASED, WE COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE STONES AND NOT MANY LEFT.
