A native of Bayou Chene, she died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home. She was 83. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Religious services at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Merle Manguno. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law, Alma and Norris Barbier, Plaquemine, Maxine and Russell Price, Clarks, and Marlene and Nolan Hebert Jr., Plaquemine; six sons and six daughters-in-law, Guy Jr. and Doris Diamond Allen, Plaquemine, Roman Sr. and Margaret Stone Allen, Bayou Sorrel, Alvin "Pud" and Sylvia Middleton Allen, Baton Rouge, Maxwell "Bun" and Judith Verret Allen and James "Jimmy" andMelody Navarre Allen, all of Bayou Sorrel, and Ashley and Kay Pittman Allen, Denham Springs; four sisters, Daisy Mendoza, Bayou Sorrel, Florence Templet, Plaquemine, Eldora Allen, Tatum, Texas, and Dorothy Beaman, Satsuma; seven brothers, Darl Ashley, Plaquemine, Buril Ashley, Calumet, Calvin Ashley, Memphis, Tenn., Dudley Ashley, Franklin, Huey Ashley, Opelousas, Winston Ashley, West Virginia, and C.J. Ashley, Melville; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Guy Allen Sr.; twin daughters, Shirley and Sherry Allen; a granddaughter, Sandra Smith; parents, Martin and Annie Millet Ashley; three sisters, Hilda Theriot, Ruby Kelley and Flavia Kelly; and two brothers. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
