Tudor courtier, the 'beautiful youth' who was a great favourite of Henry VIII and - disastrously - with Queen Katherine Howard. Henry interceded on his behalf after an unpleasant incident in which Culpepper was accused of rape and murder, but the arrogant young courtier was later convicted of indiscretions with the equally doomed Queen. He was beheaded at Tyburn. His burial place is mentioned in the writings of the contemporary observer Chapuys.
