John Aaron Athey
John Aaron Athey, 61, a longtime Inverness resident, died on Sept. 10 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Greenville.
Athey, a native of McCool, Miss. was a construction superintendent and farmer.
Services for Athey were at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Indianola Second Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Stewart and Rev. Billy J. Beckett officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Inverness with Card Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Hendon Athey of Indianola; his mother, Mrs. Cora Jennings Athey of Inverness; a daughter Mrs. Judy Busby of Harrison, Ark.; a son, Joe Athey of Inverness; a sister, Mrs. Verbie Palmer of Indianola and a brother, Jack Athey of Tutwiler, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
