Death of Mr. David L. Adams.
We have seldom been called upon to record a sadder accident than that which resulted in the death last Sunday evening of Mr. David L. Adams, one of West Point’s very best citizens. With his wife, Mr. Adams was riding in his buggy along the highway near the John R. Scott residence near West Point, when he suddenly collapsed. Mrs. Adams at first supposed that he had suffered a stroke of paralysis and hurried homeward. Physicians hurriedly called discovered that Mr. Adams had been wounded in the back of the head by a bullet. Everything was done that was possible for his relief, but about half past eight o’clock he passed away. A stray bullet from a 32 caliber rifle, it is said, caused the fatal wound. Mr. Adams was a prominent businessman and a leading member of the Presbyterian Church, universally respected by his fellow citizens. Interment took place at West Point yesterday.
