Floyd Akins
Brooklet - Funeral services were held Friday at Brooklet First Baptist Church for Floyd A. Akins, 75, who died Wednesday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital in Statesboro after a short illness.
The Bulloch County native had lived in Brooklet most of his life and was a retired pharmacist. He had owned and operated City Drug Co., in Brooklet until his retirement two years ago.
He was a deacon of Brooklet First Baptist Church and a director of Farmers and Merchants Bank in Brooklet. He was a member of the Brooklet Kiwanis Club and was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Floyd A. Akins, of Brooklet; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Sutherland of Louisville, Ky., three sisters, Mrs. J.L. Cannon, Mrs. George Mallard and Mrs. Max Edenfield, all of Statesboro; five brothers, Doy A., Fred, Datis, Ernest and Inman Akins, all of Statesboro and two grandchildren.
Burial was in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro was in charge.
