Bonnie Aldridge, 97, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at her home in Eufaula, AL, following a long illness.
A native of Metter, she lived for many years in Blackshear until moving to Eufaula, AL to be closer to family. In Blackshear, her husband owned and operated a barber shop on Main Street, and she worked for the Pierce Trading Company Department Store.
Friends and family will always remember her friendly smile as well as her love of fishing, the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband W.A. (Dock) Aldridge; her parents, Matthew T. Lanier and Margaret "Maggie" Jones Lanier; brothers Roland (Jinks) Lanier, Henry Lanier, Matthew T. (Sam) Lanier Jr., Hubert Lanier, Brooks Lanier and Fred Lanier and sisters Ruby Finley and Elise Waters.
Survivors include sons Roland L. Aldridge and wife Sheryl, Seville, FL and William A. (Bill) Aldridge Jr. and wife Pat, Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Lanna Dennison and husband Joey and Roland L. (Ro) Aldridge, Jr. and wife Becca; step-grandchild Glenn Johnston and wife Chauna; great-grandchildren Maggie Dennison, Jad Dennison and Lanier Aldridge, and step-grandchildren, Nicole Meers and husband Justin and Ashle Johnston and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday, June 29.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in Blackshear Cemetery.
