A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday for Dorothy G. Walsh Alves, who died Saturday at Dominican Hospital. She was 76.

A native of San Francisco, she was active in the Highland Park Senior Center. She was a member of the Seton Hospital Auxiliary, the Santa Cruz Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and St. John's Catholic Church. Mrs. Alves had lived in Felton since moving to the Santa Cruz area in 1975.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip D. Alves of Los Banos and Roger Alves of San Francisco; two daughters, Penny Hodgerney of San Bruno and Patti Murphy of San Francisco; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Phillip M. Alves, died in 1986.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Highway 9 and Russell Avenue, Felton. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Norman's Family Chapel, 3620 Soquel Drive, Soquel.

Friends may pay their respects at the chapel from 2 p.m. until the vigil. Interment will be in Felton District Cemetery immediately after the Mass.

Contributions to the Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael are preferred.
