Fred George Ginther, 80, of 1228 W. Cherrywood Court, Spokane, Wash., formerly of Ellisville , died at 10:38 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane.
Born Jan, 27, 1920, in Ellisville to Fred and Lottie Passent Ginther, he married Shirley J. Dishon on March 31, 1961, in Missoula, Mont. She survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Eldon of Bushnell and Eugene of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He taught for one year in a two-room country school house in Delong and taught Junior ROTC in Scottsdale, Ariz., while attending Arizona University working on a master's degree. He taught high school for four years in Medical Lake, Wash.
He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran, retiring with the rank of colonel. He served in England, West Germany and Washington, D.C., and at the Colorado Air Force Academy and the Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash. He was a PAS ROTC instructor at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was a member of the Air Force Association and the Central Lions Club.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane, Wash. Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane is in charge of arrangements.
