Birth: 1817
Tennessee, USA
Death: Mar. 14, 1899
Kelseyville
Lake County
California, USA

Daughter of Soloman and Catherine Jones who both died in Ray Co., MO. Surname 'Kelsey' according to some documentation. Emma was living in Kelseyville, California in 1880 with her husband John and their grandson John S. Kelsay, age 11. Her father was born in North Carolina and her mother was born in Virginia. Emma is buried at the intersection of Renfro Crossing and Merritt Roads in Kelseyville, Lake County, California. She wanted to be buried as near to her son John as she could, so in order to honor her wishes the best he could, her husband bought a small piece of land about 18 feet square on a private ranch not too far from the old cemetery there. He was buried next to her when he died in 1908. The roads were built at a later time so that now their graves are at the intersection of the two roads. (Mauldin History)

For Uncle Jack, a fine gentleman. The story in our family was that his wife Emma was buried on their land because Pioneer Cemetery was closed and she wanted to be buried near her son William Henry Harrison Kelsay.
