Joshua P. García, age 35, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Joshua was born in Hillsboro, Oregon on January 5, 1977 to Paul García and Susie Fernández-García.
Joshua was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, godfather and friend.
Joshua was currently the head coach for the West Las Vegas Middle School Football Team. Joshua was the head coach of the Mora girls Softball Team. Joshua was his daughter Kianna's personal pitching coach, coach of his traveling softball team the "Lady Rebels". Joshua formerly was an assistant coach for The Mora Rangers Football Team, Las Vegas Little League Team and Allstar Teams both baseball and softball, head umpire for the Las Vegas Little League and he played for the Outlaw and Rebel Semi Pro Football Teams.
Joshua was a avid Chicago Bears and Oregon Ducks fan. Joshua enjoyed taking his children to rodeos.
Joshua was preceded in death by his aunt, Rosalie García, uncle, Ernest García, paternal-grandfather, Paul García, paternal grandmother, Corrine Solano-García, uncle, Juan R. Fernández, mother-in-law, Lillian Martínez and cousin, Danny García.
Joshua is survived by his wife, Roxanne R. García, son, Tyler García, daughters, Inez García and Kianna Gallegos all of the family home, parents, Paul and Susie García of Las Vegas, NM, maternal grandmother, Inez Susana Fernández of Mora, NM, brother, Jared García and his fiancée, Vanessa Lucero, sister, Sarah García and her boyfriend, Wayne Peralta, sister-in-law, Valerie A. Martínez all of Las Vegas, NM, father-in-law, Arthur L. Martínez of Albuquerque, NM, niece and goddaughter, Sofia García, niece, Ryhanne Martínez, nephew, Robert García all of Las Vegas, NM, godchildren, Zachary, Schab and Lexi Sweatland, numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many many friends.
Rosary services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. on the West Las Vegas High School Campus with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant. Interment will follow at García Family Cemetery in Cañocito, New Mexico with the following serving as Casket Bearers, Charles Martínez, Heath Sandoval, Orlando "OJ" Márquez, John Fernández, Javier López, John Joe Schab, Diego Romero and Stephen Aragón. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be Manuel Fernández, Matthew Janssen, all his current and former football and softball players, Kenneth Abeyta, John David Lee, Andy Rubin, Manuel Benavidez, all of his fellow coaches and all of his many many friends.
In lieu of flowers memoials may be made to Teambuilders Counseling Services 720 University Ave. Las Vegas, New Mexico 87701.
