Julie Brincat, formerly a longtime resident of Arbuckle, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was 70 years old. Born Julia Louise Melise in San Francisco in 1944, she spent much of her youth as a ballerina with a San Francisco-based company. She later married and had three children.
She moved to Colusa County in 1986 where for decades she inspired thousands to develop a love for reading as the librarian at Arbuckle Elementary School. She volunteered much of her free time to the Catholic Church teaching catechism classes, reading in Mass, and coordinating Church events.
Upon retirement she moved to Oregon where she continued her work with the Church, volunteered for the local library, and spent her remaining time gardening, caring for her animals, and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.
She is predeceased in death by her husband.
She is survived by her three children, her four grandchildren; and her one great-grandchild.
