|Daniel D. Osmun|
New York, USA
|Death: ||Oct. 15, 1859|
Son of Daniel Osmun [who d. before 1820] of Tompkins County, New York. As early as 1792, Daniel Osmun [the father of Daniel D. Osmun] purchased land in Onondaga County, New York, which would later be divided up to form Cayuga County and Tompkins County. Daniel Osmun must have been at least 21 years old in 1792 to legally purchase this property.
Daniel D. Osmun (1800-1859) is thought to be the grandson of (Sgt.) John Osmun of Lamb's Artillery, but proof is lacking.
A small artillery piece commanded by Captain John Lamb took part in the Battle of Forts Clinton & Montgomery, Oct. 06, 1777, when Isaac and Israel Osman were taken prisoner.
(Pvt.) Isaac Osman and (Pvt.) Israel Osman died at the old "Sugar House Prison" in New York City, where they were being held as prisoners of war.
