Sophie Bautsch, 97, of Schuylkill Haven, died Sunday morning at home.
Born in Cressona, Jan. 21, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Louisa Hoster Grover. On May 29, 1936, she married Solon J. Bautsch, who died June 29, 2002.
Until retiring, Sophie was employed by Alpha Mills, Schuylkill Haven.
She was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven, as well as its fellowship group.
In addition to her parents and husband of 66 years, Sophie was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Lewis, David and Edmund Carver; three sisters, Alice Rhoades, Lillian and Margaret Grover; and several siblings who died in infancy.
Sophie is survived by a son, Edward Bautsch and his wife, Florence, Lake Wynonah; a daughter, Helen L. and her husband, William Donmoyer, Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Jessica, wife of David Lafko, Orwigsburg, Jennifer Bautsch, Auburn, and Sara Donmoyer, Philadelphia; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Alexis and Xavier Lafko, Orwigsburg; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Grover, New Albany, Ind.; her caregiver and friend, Vikki Bohr, and her family, Rock; nieces and nephews.
Interment in the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery, Schuylkill Haven . Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville, is entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences can be left online by visiting our website at www.bestlifetributes.com.
