Edward Kenan "Ned" Ervin
1825 - 1907

Edward Kenan Ervin, known as Ned, was the oldest child of Abner Ervin and Molcy Basden Ervin. He was born in Richlands, Onslow, North Carolina, just as his parents were. Edward is the namesake of his paternal grandfather. He had five siblings; two sisters and three brothers: William Leonard, John Alford, Zilphia Amanda, George Washington and Mary Eliza Ervin.

Edward married Sarah Elizabeth Jarrott in Onslow County on 21 January 1848. Records show they had four children together: Ann A., John, James O. and Thomas R. Ervin. He made his life and supported his family as a farmer and Sarah worked as a seamstress.

His wife passed away just a couple of months before he did, on 30 January 1906. He left this life on the 8th day of April 1907.

The Ervin and Basden (Baisden) families played a large and significant role in the prosperity of Onslow County. A family cemetery was named for Abner Ervin, Edward's father, on the original property in Richlands, well maintained and still owned by Ervin family.
